About this wine
Picked from Sawmill Creek Vineyard on October 15, 2021. The fruit was hand sorted in our cellar. The winemaking team selected the highest quality fruit given to us in 2021. The wine was destemmed and pressed at low pressure to highlight the brightness and aromatics typical of a great Finger Lakes Riesling. Fermentation took place in stainless steel and fermented for 3 months at low temperature to maintain aromatics. The wine remained on lees to add textures and character until it was bottled in August.
Suggested Food Pairings
Sushi, fish tacos, crab, smoked bass, roast chicken and summer salad.

Vintage Notes
The winter leading into 2021 was mild, leading to reduced bud damage and a large crop. The vintage started with an early bud break and bloom. The vintage was warm through the summer, leading to an early start of harvest on September 21st. High levels of rain through September and October made for more austere acid driven styles of wine through the vintage. This leads the whites from this vintage to age elegantly for the coming future. The reds are easy drinking, bright, fruit driven wines best enjoyed young.
Vineyard & Soil
This vineyard was planted in 1999 and is grown in the block planted farthest from the lake. This vineyard sees the least lake effect in the summer leading to a warmer microclimate through the growing season. Grown primarily on a Howard Gravelly loam soil type, this block features glacial deposits over a sandy bedrock with high amounts of limestone. This block often produces a Riesling that has notes of green apple and an intense minerality.
